Hello. I am ShawnCognitionCP, and I've been an active member of this community for years, now. I have a deep-rooted love for horror that has been a part of my life since childhood, and as of now, I'm another online writer confusingly deciding how to take the dive into publication. My works tend to be adult-focused and deal with taboos because, for me, that's what horror is; a media in which censorship is completely forgone. In horror, I can present my mind exactly as I wish without any alteration. This artistic freedom is key to me, as my own personality is a major influence for my work.
I have a deep love for just about every field of science and an uncanny obsession with the human body, drawing much of my inspiration from the almost biomechanical workings within all of us. Science fiction, Lovecraftian/Cosmic horror, and psychological horror are the genres that can be expected of me for the duration of my writing career. Writing has never been about recognition for me, but rather the emotions that come with constructing a dense piece of lore. World building may as well be considered a passion of mine at this point.
Mantle is the In Torment series conclusion, and what I consider to be my personal gem.
Tabula Rasa is an homage to classic science fiction which was created for a contest on this website. It tells the tale of isolation and experimentation far, far from Earth, from the POV of a character as clueless as the reader as they gain information on the conspiracy at large around them. Think 2001 a Space Odyssey crossbred with an Infowars article.
Eidolon- This very short story takes place in the fictional version of Cook Forest seen throughout the In Torment series, and details a completely new character's experience with yet another strange happening hidden within the trees. A quick and simple read, but one I feel highlights my writing in its language and descriptions.
In the future, you can expect more novellas, which I prefer to keep either free or on this site, on the way. When it comes to writing I simply move with the urge to create, and do not force said urge to occur sooner, so news of the future will have to come with the future itself. Thank you for the opportunity to be spotlighted. It truly means a lot to me, as I owe all of my creations to this site and the fanbase it holds.
