The name's Sal Gray, but most people refer to me as GreyOwl, courtesy of the tattoo of a snowy owl on my left shoulder. I'm originally from the beautiful city of Anchorage, Alaska where there's not really much to do besides fish and hunt. In case you have never met anyone from Alaska, no, we do not live in igloos. Well, not anymore. My tribe, the Inuit people, have long traded the igloos for houses. With that being said, it's easy to understand why I began writing at the age of 10. As you can imagine, there wasn't much to do besides freeze to death as soon as you stepped outside of your house, so I chose to watch life happen from the comfort of my home, using my window to observe nature and the people beyond it.
While some people believe my writing style is more up the flowery path, I like to think of it as personable. I love to add subtle hints of reality throughout my writing in order to make it more relatable to the reader. I would describe my writing style as being extremely personal. I want to pull you into the story emotionally. I want you to feel my every word as your eyes skim across your screens. I want to make you wonder and question everything.
A few of my favorite stories are Sirens, The Preservers, The Raffle, Aesthetically Pleasing, and Mirror's Image. All five of these have very relatable MC's, dealing with people and situations that both you and I encounter in our day to day lives. Sirens is a story of a young girl's journey to a shocking revelation after a very traumatic accident. The Preservers is a psychological thriller surrounding a secret organization of people committing unspeakable acts in order to preserve the planet. The Raffle is a dark tale about a monster's shot at a big win. Aesthetically Pleasing is a story about societal standards and the impact it has on everyone, including beings we do not know exist. And lastly, Mirror's Image is a tale surrounding a misguided and insecure being that has had enough of her imperfections.
Lastly I would like to highlight some projects I have been working on. For the last couple of months, I've been writing quite a few short stories in order to publish an anthology series that will be released very soon. I've also been quite busy with writing for an app game called Episode Interactive. My story is titled Savior, and it's a drama set in high school. If you're not into crying, I suggest you not read it. It is quite the tear-jerker. There are other projects I'm working on as well, but I can't give out any information until it is released unfortunately.
